ANNUAL 4TH OF JULY BIKE PARADE AND LAWN GAMES AT PEQUOT LIBRARY
Southport, CT – Pequot Library’s annual 4th of July Bike Parade and Lawn Games will again commence at the Five Corners in Southport Village with decorated bikes, scooters, and wagons on Wednesday, July 4, 2018, at 10:00 a.m. A street parade will weave its way to the Great Lawn of Pequot Library where fun and games begin and continue until 12:00 p.m. Children can get their faces painted and participate in traditional sack races, a bubblegum-blowing contest, and a hula hoop contest. New this year is an Apple Pie Contest. Bake your own (nut-free) pie and bring it to Pequot’s Great Lawn at 11:00 a.m. on the 4th. It will be judged by Pequot’s patriotic team of apple pie experts. Hot dogs and drinks will be available for purchase. This event is free and open to the public. Come enjoy a community tradition.

Chris Frantz will lead the parade from Southport Village on a vintage drum. Frantz, a local icon, American musician, and record producer was the drummer for both Talking Heads and the Tom Tom Club. He received the drum that he will be using to lead the 4th of July Parade from his father when he was 13. This is the same drum that led to Chris' extraordinary musical career. He has pulled it off his shelf and polished it up and looks forward to leading Pequot Library's 4th of July Bike Parade to the Great Lawn of Pequot Library.
