Pequot War Battlefront Project Info Session on Pequot Library Great Lawn May 12th

The Fairfield Museum received funding from the National Park Service’s American Battlefield Protection Program to lead an important study of the Pequot Swamp Fight. The Battle of Pequot Swamp occurred on July 13-14, 1637 and was the final battle of the Pequot War. This coming summer, the Museum will be working with a team of professional archeologists to conduct a low-impact survey of the Pequot Swamp site to locate possible artifacts related to the battle. The archeologists will use metal detectors to survey the area and locate possible artifacts. Letters have been sent to homeowners whose property is located on the historically significant 17th century battlefield site.

Please join us on the front lawn of Pequot Library on Saturday, May 12th from noon to 2 PM to see a demonstration of this survey.

Archeologists will be on hand to answer your questions.
