Southport, CT – Two teams from Pequot Library’s Scrabble Club led by renowned coach Cornelia Guest competed in the 2014 National School Scrabble Completion, held in Providence, RI, on April 26 and 27. Team one consisted of Andre Mead, 4th grade at Dwight Elementary School and Brooks Barry, 4th grade at Pequot Homeschool. Team two consisted of Jonas Brown, 5th grade at Stratfield Elementary School and Dustin Brown, 7th grade at Tomlinson Middle School. 100 teams from across the United States and Canada competed. Coach Guest has brought over 50 teams to the Nationals since 2005 and had winners in 2007 and 2008.

Pequot Library’s Scrabble Club takes place on Wednesdays, from 4:30pm – 5:30pm. It’s open to 4th-8th graders and all levels of experience including beginners are welcome. Taught by recognized coach Cornelia Guest, Pequot’s Scrabble clubbers learn winning plays and strategy, and have fun. There is a fee and registration is encouraged. The Scrabble Club will run through the summer. The location is in the Children's Department or Auditorium at Pequot Library. Contact (203) 259-0346 ext. 18 for more information.
