Subject: Southport, Connecticut 
Description: B/w post card. 
Printed on the front: "Southport 1906. The Munson Ellwood House." This house was built c 1766 by William Bulkley. It is reputedly the oldest house in Southport village and the only one to survive the burning of the village by the British in 1779. It is the subject of HABS (Hist. American Bldgs Survey) Report Ct-309. The house partially visible to the left stood at the corner of Harbor Rd & Old South, the Capt Andrew Bulkley hosue. It was demolished in the 1930's.
