author, sonja huber talks ABOUT memoir writing at Pequot Library

Southport, CT 2/16/14 – There will be a Memoir Writing Talk at Pequot Library on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, from 6:30pm - 8:00pm. Led by assistant professor of creative writing at Fairfield University, Sonya Huber, will explore what it is about memoir that draws us in and invites us to tell our own stories. Huber says, “We live in the ‘Memoir Age,’ and this explosion of life writing invites readers to become writers and to discover meaning in their stories and memories.” The program is free and open to the public.

Huber, who is also an author, will talk about the process of writing memoir. She will read a brief sample of work and talk about the research and writing process for her work in family history and memoir. Topics such as going deeper into detail and scene to get the most out of an experience or memory and making time to write will be covered. How to structure a book and finding multiple ways to tell a story will be discussed plus outlets and opportunities for publication. There will be plenty time for questions.

Location is in the Reading Room of Pequot Library. Contact (203) 259-0346 ext. 15 for further information.
