PINE CREEK DREDGING PROJECT BEING PERFORMED

The dredging of the Pine Creek Navigational channel began last Friday. Due to permit conditions and that Work is most efficiently performed during the twice daily high tide cycles, the contractor will work during evening and overnights as the high tide dictates. This will be effective early morning tomorrow 12/11/13. The in-water dredging component of this project is regulated and permitted by the Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection (DEEP) as it is in State waters. The DEEP does not restrict or limit night dredging as it recognizes the need to work with the fluctuating tidal cycles, specifically in shallow areas, and allows dredging activities in the evening hours. The trucking & transport component of the job will be limited to hours as any other project. The contractor states decibel levels will be less than noise ordinance- 45dBA. Some safety lighting and low level noise can be expected but within Town ordinance. This twice per day activity should enable the contractor to complete the work in a 3-week period. For questions or to view the plans and permit, the public can contact or visit the Town’s Engineering Department at 725 Old Post Road or call 203-256-3015. Updated information will be placed on the Town’s website, www.fairfieldct.org.
