Trinity Church To Celebrate its Victory Over Hurricane Sandy

Trinity Episcopal Church in Southport is holding a gala celebration on Friday, Nov. 1 to mark its recovery from Hurricane Sandy and to mark the re-opening of its nursery school that was destroyed by the storm..
The event is open to the community and will include refreshments, music from the Geoff Birt Trio, and tours of the brand-new nursery school, and is also a charitable event to help retire the extensive debt Trinity incurred in rebuilding.
The Trinity Parish Nursery School Grand Re-Opening and Homecoming Celebration will be held from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm in the Trinity parish hall at 651 Pequot Ave in Southport.
“We overcame near-impossible odds to rebuild the nursery school in only ten months after its utter devastation from a five-foot wall of water,” said John Morgan, Trinity’s senior warden.
“The staff, teachers, and families of the nursery school kept faith with us during the dark months following the disaster, and now we are inviting the whole community to help us mark a joyous occasion.”
The November 1 event is also serving as a homecoming celebration for alumni families. Trinity’s nursery school has educated thousands of children in its 48 years of operations.
