Pequot Library Presents a Lecture/Workshop Sept.16th

Pequot Library Presents a Lecture/Workshop for High School Seniors and their parents on understanding the new common application
 Southport, CT -- A free lecture/workshop for high school Seniors and their parents will be held on Monday, September 16, 2013, from 7:00pm - 8:00pm, at Pequot Library. Participants will learn how to understand the new Common Application. The Common Application (informally known as the Common App) is an undergraduate college admission application that applicants may use to apply to any of 517 member colleges and universities in 47 states and the District of Columbia, as well as in Austria, France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, and United Kingdom.
This lecture on filling out the new Common Application presents strategies for effectively completing the new ACTIVITIES/RESUME section and the new ESSAY QUESTIONS. The program speakers will be Susan Wexler and David Wexler, of Wexler Educational Consulting.


Susan Wexler earned the highest mark of achievement in the field of Educational Consulting, that of Certified Educational Planner. She is among a prestigious group of about 225 Certified Educational Planners nationwide. She holds a Master of Science degree in Education from the University of Pennsylvania and has trained at the Harvard Institute on College Admissions, co-sponsored by Harvard University and the College Board.


David Wexler is an academic writing tutor and essay coach, specializing in the college application essay. He earned a Master of Arts degree in Cinema Studies from the Tisch School of the Arts at NYU in 2006 and a BA in Philosophy from Tufts University. He and Susan are both members of the Independent Educational Consultants Association and have worked together since 2002. The program will be held in Pequot Library’s Auditorium/Concert Hall.
