Southport, CT – How can you park for New England’s best book sale and help save the world at the same time? Pequot Library and Trinity Episcopal Church, in Southport, CT, partner in the “Park for Food” fundraiser to support St. Luke’s Bridgeport Food Pantry. During the busiest weekend days of the five-day book sale, Pequot’s parking lot is expected to reach beyond capacity. Trinity Church’s Outreach Committee coordinates the overflow parking from the Pequot Library Book Sale parking to the church’s parking lot in exchange for a donation of food or funds. Trinity’s parking lot is ½ block from Pequot Library, on the corner of Pequot Avenue and Center Street.
On Saturday, July 27 and Sunday, July 28, Trinity Church volunteers will direct cars to available parking in the church’s parking lot, in exchange for canned food or donations. All proceeds go to St. Luke’s Bridgeport Food Pantry. Judy Proctor, co-chair with Stephen Stout, of Trinity’s Outreach Committee says, “We’ve been doing this for over three years and the results have greatly exceeded expectations. Donations to food pantries are especially needed at this time, when so many people are in need of food for their daily living.”

Volunteers will help and guide people in and out of parking spaces in Trinity’s lot. The church will also be selling “Bebe’s Special Lemonade,” a spit-fire brew of real lemonade made from real lemons. All proceeds benefit St. Luke’s Bridgeport Food Pantry.

Pequot Library’s Director of Communications, Adair Heitmann, says, “We’re so happy to partner again with Trinity Church, for such a good cause. Pequot’s Book Sale feeds people’s minds and spirits, Trinity’s “Park for Food” feeds people’s bodies.”
