Southport student wins 1st honors at Connecticut Science & Engineering Fair

Ian Vaca of Southport, a junior at Christian Heritage School in Trumbull, won 1st Honors at the Connecticut Science & Engineering Fair, held at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, from March 12 – 16, 2013. Vaca’s project, entitled “The Use of Pulse Width Modulation for Sensory Input Control of an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) in the C++ Programming Language,” also earned seven top awards from sponsor organizations including Xerox and the U.S. Army. More than 15,000 students in Connecticut and several bordering New York state towns compete for the approximately 500 spaces at the state fair.
