The Pequot Library has planned a rally on its Great Lawn Saturday afternoon to urge the Representative Town Meeting to restore a $350,000 town grant that has been cut from the proposed 2013-14 budget by the Board of Finance.
The rally is scheduled at 1:30 p.m., the library said, preceding a 2 p.m. young people's concert in the library auditorium.
The $350,000 town grant represents about one-third of the private library association's operating budget, and Pequot officials have said the 124-year-old library probably would have to close without the money.
The Board of Finance cut the town grant on a 5-4 vote, but the decision is being appealed to the RTM, which has authority to restore it.
The library urged supporters to wear yellow to the rally. A children's musical group will perform during the rally, the library said.
