St. Baldrick's on March 3rd!

Would you shave your head for a child?
Participants in a St. Baldrick’s event shave their heads in exchange for donations towards cures for childhood cancers and giving survivors long and healthy lives. It’s a simple concept, a fun time and a very effective fundraiser. The St. Baldrick’s Foundation funds more childhood cancer research grants than any other organization except the U.S. government.
Join us for our 9th annual event March 3, 2013 at Fairfield Warde High School!
Doors open at 10:30 for 11am Opening Ceremonies, featuring sportscaster Deb Placey, St. Baldrick’s Board member/TeamBrent Co-founder Mike McCreesh, and St. Baldrick’s Co-Founder/Past Chairman Tim Kenny. Immediately after opening ceremonies, registration will open and Salon V & Salon Vivid will shave heads until 2:30pm. Enjoy music by DJ E-Train, head painting by Once Upon a Face, legos galore by b-cause and The Block Party, a live remote by Star 99.9 (95.9 FOX) & complimentary studio photos by Heidi Curran Photography & Laurie Wright Photography. Come hungry! The best of area bakers have teamed up for an over-the-top bake sale, and Skinny Pines brick oven pizza & Christophe’s Crepes will be parked out front.
Join us at 1:30 as we film a Harlem Shake, Baldie Style! Here is our first TeamBrent Harlem Shake: If it’s fun, we want in!
Healthy adults aged 18-44 can register for the (free, easy cheek swab) Be the Match bone marrow registry, which matches patients with an unrelated donor willing to donate stem cells on their behalf for transplant. Over 100 people have joined the Be the Match registry at our events. On a simultaneously sad and uplifting note, we know of two TeamBrenters that have received calls to be donors. They are both awaiting further instruction and hoping they can help. What a great way for your supporters to get further involved! Eligibility guidelines:
We are coming together and truly changing things. Check this out: :
Each year the St. Baldrick’s Foundation officially Knights an elite group who has helped shape St. Baldrick’s by being involved for at least seven years. There are currently 1,294 Knights of the Round Table worldwide. We have been pleased to Knight 15 people at our past events: Becky Andronowitz, Tom Andronowitz, Rich Baron, Dennis Brown, Mike Donahue, Todd Goodfellow, Roger Haney, Bill Keough, Jane Kronick, Dana McCreesh, Mike McCreesh, Scot Parnell, Deb Placey, Pete Reiter, Matt Wilcox. Join us for Opening Ceremonies as we welcome 11 more Knights to this elite group!
Three more ways to support the St. Baldrick’s Foundation:
1. Pick up some TeamBrent Ravioli at Cinch (in the Fairfield Sportsplex complex). A portion of the proceeds ALWAYS goes to TeamBrent!
2. Join us at the Sound Tigers Hockey 3pm game on March 17th and a portion of each ticket will go to St. Baldrick’s. Call Sarah @ 203-345-4823 for discounted tickets ($19) as they will be $32 at the box office.
3. Support another St. Baldrick’s event (we especially love OHS, Stratfield School & Waterbury Fire). The money goes to the same place and the message gets stronger and stronger as the # of events increases.
When you leave, head on over to the Fairfield Woods Branch Library for some mini-golf (until 4pm). All St. Baldrick’s shavees get FREE admission (normally $5 per person/$20 per family).
Please make sure and thank DJ E-Train, Salon V, Salon Vivid, Once Upon a Face, Heidi Curran Photography, Laurie Wright Photography, Ben Sachs Photography, Vincent Ellis, Sweet & Simple, emcee Deb Placey, 99.Star/95.9 the Fox radio, Christophe’s Crepes & Skinny Pines Pizza for volunteering their talents on site to make the day such a success!
We are also grateful to Keough’s Hardware, Infinite Web Designs, Castle Computer, Cinch Food, Moffly Media, the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, Fairfield PTA, vineyard vines, Discovery Capital, Trifitness, Success Printing & Mailing, Curran VW, the Block Party, Fairfield Public Library & Nauti Dolphin for their support!
We all rest in the shade of trees that we did not plant.
Event Committee: Kristin Nierman, Courtney Yanni, Alicia Westerlund, Becky Andronowitz & Jane Kronick.
