Pequot Library names permanent director

The Pequot Library has named a former private-school administrator and banker as executive director of the 124-year-old Southport landmark,.
Martha Gates Lord was named to the post permanently after serving since August as interim director, the library's Board of Trustees said in a news release. She replaces Dan Snydacker, who retired in July.
"As a member of our Fairfield community, Martha immediately understands our mission of bringing cultural events and library resources to our Connecticut neighbors, both local and more distant," Alison Barry, the board's executive vice president, said in the news release. "Martha is an astute leader and is already working with our wonderful staff to continue and expand our many programs and everyday services."
