Town secures $275K to improve shoreline access for disabled

The town has received a $275,000 state grant to improve accessibility for people with disabilities at several shoreline properties.
The Small Town Economic Assistance Program funding will be used to upgrade access at South Benson Marina, Southport Beach, Ye Yacht Yard and Sasco Beach.
"I am thankful to our state delegation for helping our town obtain this needed funding that will increase handicap accessibility at some of our widely-used coastal recreation sites," First Selectman Michael Tetreau said in a statement.
Work will be done to picnic areas, concession stands and restrooms in order to make them compliant with standards in the Americans with Disabilities Act, as well as increase accessibility for the elderly and visitors with small children. READ MORE:
