Southport News robbery suspect captured in Bridgeport, linked to other robberies

A 29-year-old Bridgeport man, suspected of committing three Fairfield robberies in the last two days, was arrested Tuesday afternoon after leading police on a car chase into Bridgeport.
Joshua Santiago Yard, of Grand Street in Bridgeport, went into the Southport News & Deli, 3546 Post Road, shortly after 1 p.m. Tuesday, wearing a black ski mask, police said. He threatened to shoot the clerk, and after he was handed money, fled the premises, although no gun was displayed, police said. Yard fled in a car, heading east on the Post Road and onto Interstate 95, and Officer Daniel Victoria spotted the car getting off I-95 onto Commerce Drive on the other side of town. Yard was chased by Fairfield and Bridgeport onto Maplewood Avenue and Poplar Street in the city, where he ditched the car and took off on foot, according to the report.
