Southport Firefighters Receive Plaque for Saving Trinity Episcopal Church

12/3/12 -Trinity Episcopal Church presented the Southport Fire Department with a plaque recognizing the station's firefighters for saving the historic church from the October 2012 "great floodwaters" of Hurricane Sandy. The volunteer firemen raced to the church in the aftermath of the hurricane to begin pumping out many thousands of gallons of water from the lower levels of the church and shut down its electrical and HVAC systems. An estimated $1 million in damage occurred. Trinity has launched a capital campaign to restore and expand its facilities. Trinity also begins its year-long Sesquicentennial (150th anniversary) celebration this week. Porter, Eric Pironto, Michael Bihary, Dan Torska, and Ralph Arnone.
