Fairfield Women's Exchange marks 50 years

The Fairfield Women's Exchange, at 332 Pequot Ave., this year marks its 50th year in existence.
The consignment shop, a nonprofit entity that sells items to benefit area women and children's agencies, will celebrate the milestone during its annual holiday open house in early November.
Items for sale at the store include antiques, art, baby and children's items, food items, hostess and housewares and women's and men's accessories, according to its website.
The exchange has given more than $1 million to more than 65 local organizations and more than $4 million to consignors, according to a news release. Donations may be sent to: Attention Gail Rogers, Treasurer, the Fairfield Women's Exchange, 332 Pequot Ave., Southport CT 06890, the website states.
To volunteer, call the store or email Elisa Bates, president, at Opportunities include working a 3.5-hour morning or afternoon retail shift every two weeks, helping with treasury and bookkeeping, and offering business skills in inventory management, buying, merchandising, marketing and other areas.
