Pequot Library names ex-GFA official interim director

Pequot Library has named a former administrator at Greens Farms Academy in Westport as interim director. Martha Lord assumed leadership of the of the Southport library Aug. 1 after Daniel Snydacker, the director for the last eight year, stepped down. Lord has a doctorate in education and was associate head of school at Greens Farms. Previously she was head of school at two other private secondary schools, the library said. Most recently she has been interim executive director of the nonprofit Big Apple Circus. Lord's appoint runs through Jan. 31, 2013. The library said the appointment would allow time to search for a permanent director. "We are absolutely thrilled to have Martha take over the reins at Pequot Library," Bill Russell, president of the library's board of trustees said in the news release. "She is a seasoned executive in the education and not-for-profit industry, is passionate about this library and this community, and brings with her a world of valuable experience." Lord has a master's degree in financial management in addition to her Ph.D. in education, the library said.
