A Quilt Exhibit: Fabrics and Fabrications’ 10th Anniversary


SOUTHPORT, CT/JUNE 27, 2012 -- The results are in ! Hard working committee members celebrated the 10-year anniversary of A Quilt Exhibit: Fabrics and Fabrications(www.fabricsandfabrications.com) by raising nearly $38,000 for three designated nonprofit organizations, according to Committee co-chair Susan Kunkel.

During a recent luncheon at Southport Congregational Church, where the exhibit is held annually, Emerge of Stratford, enabling transitions for survivors of domestic violence and their families; The Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Connecticut in Trumbull and Project Learn, an after-school program in Bridgeport each received contributions from the committee along with a special quilt created by the BeeAttitudes, a group of quilters from the Church.

“We couldn’t have received a more wonderful anniversary present than the large amount of proceeds from our 10th anniversary event, which honored our co-founders, Cecily Zerega and Judy Reynolds of Fairfield, ” Kunkel said. “And our overall results were amazing. We had more than 600 visitors and we displayed more than 140 amazing quilts.

“With each year we create A Quilt Exhibit: Fabrics and Fabrications, our committee sets the bar a little higher and we continue to exceed expectations.”

Fabrics and Fabrications Co-Founder Cecily Zerega said, “It is amazing to see the colors and patterns each year. The exhibit never looks the same. Some of the quilts may be recently made in 2012 or 2011 and some much earlier. Every year the collection is different. “
