Lightning strikes Fairfield house; disrupts RR service

Fairfield got socked by a swift-moving thunderstorm this morning, where at least one home was reported struck by lightning and wires at the Southport Railroad Station were damaged, causing rail service delays at the height of the morning commute.The brief but powerful storm swept through town and rest of southwestern Connecticut about 8 a.m., although a "Severe Thunderstorm Watch" remains in effect through 2 p.m. today.
Few local customers, however, have lost electric service so far. As of 9:30 a.m., United Illuminating was reporting only 5 customers in Fairfield had power disrupted because of the storm.
