Courses at Fairfield Senior Center

The Fairfield Senior Center, in cooperation with Sacred Heart University and in affiliation with the Elderhostel Network, will offer four classes in January and February as part of its Lifelong Learners program at the center, 100 Mona Terrace. Patricia Spoor, who holds a masters of arts degree in women's studies, will present the second part of "Women of the 50s as Seen Through the Lens of TV's Mad Men" 1:30 to 3 p.m. Thursdays, Jan. 12, 19 and 26 and Feb. 2 and 9. Dr. Edward Drew, former professor of politics at Fairfield University, will present "The Changing Balance of Power in the World." The course will look at Europe, the United States, Asia and Latin America, Africa and the Middle East, primarily focusing on today's political volatility. The course will take place Tuesday, Jan. 17, Monday, Jan. 23, and Tuesdays, Jan. 31 and Feb. 7.
Don Lamberty and Elsa Cantor, retired educators and travelers, will take students on a classroom tour of Turkey, India, Thailand/Vietnam and Israel, focusing on the lives of the people, their cultures and way of life. Village life will be combined with some geography, history and archeology. Each week will focus on one country. The course will be held Thursdays, Jan. 19 and 26 and Feb. 2 and 9. READ MORE:
