"20-dag-Knut-Fest" to be held at Scandinavian Club Fairfield Jan.14th

The 46th Annual Swedish "Twenty-days-after-Christmas-Fest" ("Tjugonde-dag-Knut-Fest") will be held Saturday, January 14th, 2012 at 5 PM at the Scandinavian Club
1351 South Pine Creek Road, Fairfield

North Star & Northern Lights Singers together with Apollo Singing Society of Hamden will present an informal concert with dance around the Christmas tree to live Swedish accordion music by Wivan Sundman in a unique Swedish tradition before it is plundered and "thrown out" and marking the end of the Christmas season. A Raffle will be held and a donation includes refreshments. Say "good bye" to Christmas the Swedish way.
In Sweden Christmas starts with Lucia December 13th and ends with Knut's Day January 13th. The Singers held their first 20-dag-Knut at Bridgeport Machines in 1966 and for several years held the fest at Salem Lutheran Church fellowship hall until the new Scandinavian Club was build in April 1985 and the singers and the fiddlers got a permanent home for their activities. The directors are Cameron Phillips of Fairfield and Ernest Gunn of Ashford, CT. All are invited to attend. Donations at the door $7.00, children under 12 free.
