Quartet to open Music for Youth concert season

Music for Youth will open the 2012 season of its free Young Persons' Concerts with a performance by The Voxare String Quartet 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at Pequot Library, 720 Pequot Ave., Southport.

The quartet, formed in 2008 at New York City's Juilliard School of Music, is comprised of Emily Ondracek-Peterson and Alina Zhdanova, both on violin; Erik Peterson on viola; and Adrian Daurov on cello.
The group, often chosen by The New York Times as its "Classical Pick of the Week," has been noted for adventurous programming, technical prowess and passionate performances, according to a release from Music for Youth. It has been quartet-in-residence at Bargemusic, a chamber music venue on Brooklyn's waterfront, and is in residence at Columbia University and Dartmouth College. READ MORE:
