Marquand Mansion, site 720 Pequot Avenue
Southport, Connecticut

Description:  Photographer: Montignani, Bridgeport Ct. Printed on reverse: "Montignani, Photo Artist, Bridgeport, Conn." Written on reverse: "House of Mr F. Marquand, Southport, Conn." Typed note found with photo: "Mr Marquand's home in Southport. He is seated on the porch, with Mr and Mrs Monroe standing." The house was built on Pequot Avenue, corner of Westway Road, in 1832 for Frederick Marquand. This is the view from the southwest, looking northeast. The house was demolished in 1892 (Chronicle 15 Nov 1892). It stood in front of the Pequot Library, which was built in memory of Mr Marquand by the Monroes. The photograph is dated c 1867 in Southport, The Architectural Legacy of a Ct Village by Cigliano and Schwarz.
