Free Young Persons' Concerts - the Amerigo Trio
At Pequot Library
Saturday, November 19, 2011, 02:00pm - 03:00pm

Music for Youth and Pequot Library present the Amerigo Trio.
The Amerigo Trio is the most recent major string trio to emerge in the world of chamber music. New York Philharmonic Concertmaster Glenn Dicterow formed the Amerigo with his wife, the violist Karen Dreyfus, and with cellist Inbal Segev, after their successful collaboration at the Bowdoin International Chamber Music Festival, where their playing was lauded in the Maine Sunday Telegram as a “virtuoso performance. . .an extraordinary interchange of musical thought.”

In the short time since the Trio’s founding in the summer of 2009, it has been invited to play at numerous prestigious concert series, including Lorin Maazel’s Castleton Festival in Virginia, the Hotchkiss School in Connecticut, the Concord Chamber Music Society in Massachusetts, the Tannery Pond Concerts in the Berkshires and the Dumbarton Concerts in Washington.
The Trio has just completed its debut recording of serenades by Beethoven and Dohnanyi, which Strad magazine has praised for its “personality, purpose and captivating energy.”
The Amerigo Trio is named after the Italian explorer Amerigo Vespucci. As Vespucci explored the world, the members of the Amerigo Trio are committed to exploring the world of string trio repertoire, both new and old.
