Dedication of Memorial Fountain
Southport, Connecticut
Description: Photographer: Steinhoff, 1030 Main St, Bridgeport. A fountain commemorating the Pequot Swamp Fight was given to the town by the Dorothy Ripley Chapter (Sthport) of the DAR. Picture shows the dedication ceremony at the intersection of Harbor Rd and Main St. Contrary to the program announcement neither Gov Chamberlain nor ex-Gov Coffin was in attendance. Buildings in the background are, from left to right: the Chas Jennings feed/grain store, the Jennings warehouse, and the drugstore (building with false front). The photo was probably taken from the balcony of 251 Main, Nehemiah Jennings meat market building.
