Carey's Corner
Southport, Connecticut

Description: The term "Carey's Corner" was often used to denote the 5-point intersection of Pequot Avenue east and west, Old Post Road, Rose Hill Road and Main Street. More specifically it referred to this building, which was a popular ice cream parlor/restaurant. This building burned down in 1904. The site is now occupied by Switzer's Drug Store. The billboard on the left advertises a movie house in Bridgeport. The house to the left of the Carey's Corner building was the home of William Disbrow, now #338 Pequot Avenue. Photo circa 1900.
