Mid 1800's REWARD OF MERIT



Hand colored REWARD OF MERIT, two of Connecticut's oldest names, Delia Dimon Black, and Malvina Bulkley. Malvina was a decendant of Sargeant James Redfield of Connecticut, daughter of Captain William Bulkley and Charlotte Clark. James Redfield in 1776 was Sargeant in Captain Jonathan Dimon's company at New York and the Battle of White Plains.

The Bulkley House is in Southport, Connecticut. George Washington and his staff put up at the "Bulkley House" about the time of Bunker Hill.
