Hall Block
Southport, Connecticut
Description: Photographer: Edward, Clinton or Eugene Hall. Note found with glass plate negative: "The front of the present Hall block corner of Main Street and Center Streets." This building was erected by Edward T. Hall Sr. after the 1894 fire. On the first floor were stores; on the upper floors were rooms for rent and some offices. This picture was probably taken in 1896 when the Southport Chronicle (19 Nov. 1896) referred to the "front of the new Hall's block [with the] numerous theatre posters covering the windows."
