Wheeler Plumbing Shop; The Galley Restaurant
Southport, Connecticut
The Ivy Shop, left foreground, opened in 1947, so picture was taken in that year or later. The building to the left is 251 Main. The 1 & 1/2 story building in the center was the Wheeler Plumbing Shop from 1860's into the 1890's. In the 1930's it was an upholsterer's shop. In the late 1940's-1950's "The Galley" restaurant operated here. The connecting annex between 251 Main Street and 656 Harbor Road was removed and buildings are today free standing. The building to the right of 656 Harbor Road was until 1948 the Wakeman's Boys' Club. The street number of this building has varied in recent years so 656 Harbor Road may not always be an accurate designation.
