Southport, Connecticut
Photographer: Read. Photo is marked "Read 34" in bottom right corner. Written on paper attached to reverse of picture: "Pequot Summer Club was located in Old Southport J[ail] at the time on property of Mr & Mrs H. Archibald Ma[yse]. For Boys only, it met 3 times a week & boys were ta[ken] to the Beach, camping (occasionally on our property at 42 Congress St) and in bad weather had activities in Club Ho[use]. The three directors were (older lads, back row): _____? Bahnzof (sp), _____? Bahnzof, and Kenton Christie Mayse, adopted son of Mr & Mrs Mayse. The only lad I can identify is my son, Henry Hammond Taylor II now of East Canaan, Conn. He is extreme left, front row. He could probably identify mos[t] of the others but so could a good many in the group. Mrs Mayse was my husband, Tom Taylor's, maternal aunt--nee Margaret Townsend Starr. She was quite a character. Club ran several years. [signed] Mary Darling Taylor" No date. This building is now an outbuilding (workshop) of 808 Pequot Ave.
